Meet the Founder – Weaving Stories with Odra Tales

Namaste! I’m Sthitipragyan Mohanty the founder of Odra Tales, a blog dedicated to celebrating the beauty, craftsmanship, and sustainability of Odisha’s handloom sarees.

My Journey with Handloom Sarees

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the intricate weaves and timeless elegance of handloom sarees. Each drape told a story—of artisans who poured their skill and dedication into every thread. Over the years, I realized that while handloom is a treasure, it also faces challenges—lack of awareness, affordability issues, and the struggle of our weavers to sustain their craft. That’s when Odra Tales was born—a space where heritage meets modernity, and where we can collectively support and revive our handloom traditions.

Why I Started Odra Tales

• To educate saree lovers about authentic handloom and how to differentiate it from machine-made alternatives.

• To promote sustainable fashion, encouraging mindful choices that respect both artisans and the environment.

• To be ‘Vocal for Local’, connecting handloom enthusiasts with weavers and empowering small artisans.
